All About Lake Zurich, IL


 

Lake Zurich, is a northern suburb of Chicago, Illinois, with has a rich history dating back to the early 1800s. Originally Native American tribes lived in the area around Lake Zurich, IL due to the area's abundant natural resources, such as the lake and the woods. In the 1800s, the European settlers began to arrive in search of the fertile land. Some of the first settlers to the Lake Zurich Area were the Zimmermans. They came to Lake Zurich, IL in the 1830s.

Soon more settlers were coming to the area that is now Lake Zurich. Eventually a village began to form. By the mid-1800s, many businesses had established in the village of Lake Zurich. Some of those businesses included a grist mill, a blacksmith , and a store. The building of railroads helped to increase the growth in Lake Zurich by making it easier for people commute and goods to be transported. As the Village of Lake Zurich continued to grow, new businesses began to pop up such as, a hotel, a creamery, and factories for manufacturing.

During the 20th century, Lake Zurich had new businesses and housing developments being buit. In the 1950s/1960s, with the construction of highways, this helped to make Lake Zurich more accessible. The result was increases of new residents and businesses. Now Lake Zurich is a growing and a wounderful place to live, with a population of about 19,000 people. The Village has great parks such as, Breezewald Park, Paulus Park, and the Lake Zurich Sports Park. The Village also has top-rated schools, including Lake Zurich High School. Lake Zurich has definetly changed a lot over the years.

Healthcare is a major industry in the Village of Lake Zurich. There are several hospitals and medical centers located in Lake Zurich. Some of them are Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, Lake Zurich Animal Hospital, and Fresenius Kidney Care.

Manufacturing is also a major industry in Lake Zurich. There are many industrial areas such as factories, warehouses, logistic companies, trucking companies, landscape companies, snow removal companies, manufacturing plants, and construction companies. Some well-known companies are Durex Industries.

Retail is an important factor to the economy of Lake Zurich, which has an amazing downtown area with many shops and restaurants. Big brand retailers in the area are Walmart, Home Depot, and Target. This may sound weird, but tourism also contributes to the economy. Lake Zurich has an awesome lake that is a popular destination for boating, fishing, and swimming. The Village also hosts community events throughout the year, such as the Lake Zurich Farmers Market, and the Fourth of July Parade. Lake Zurich is a great place to live and work.

Lake Zurich has a beautiful landscape. The namesake lake is located in the village of Lake Zurich and it is about 245 acres with a depth of about 70 ft. The lake is surrounded by woods and parks. There are also some residential homes, Nearby there are many great natural sites to visit, such as forests and wetlands. Some notable places to visit are Cuba Marsh Forest Preserve, Hawthorn Woods Nature Preserve, and Deer Grove Forest Preserve. These locations are great for exploring wildlife, hiking, biking, or fishing. The beautiful landscape of the lake or nature will show anyone why living in Lake Zurich is just amazing.

There are many golf courses in Lake Zurich. Some of them are Kemper Lakes Golf Club and the Pine Meadow Golf Club. Overall, Lake Zurich's beautiful landscape of forests, lakes, and wetlands, give residents the opportunity to experience nature while still nearby at home.
