To the east and west, the village is surrounded by approximately 1,131 acres of forest preserve. Glenview is filled with many businesses, excellent schools, incredible homes, and friendly residents. The village has a unique history.

The History Of Glenview, ILlinois
Some of the first settlers started coming to the area in 1833. One of the first to settle was the George Heslington family. Since arriving from England, they have lived in Fort Dearborn (Chicago), hoping to reclaim their future home. All early settlers were allowed to select 160 acres of land. This land was in the present-day townships of Niles and Maine, near present-day Glen View Club. His farm was located in Deerfield moraine.
A referendum was held in 1898 for whether or not to incorporate the village. The first attempt failed. However, on June 17, 1899, a second attempt was made. It was decided by 59 votes to 51 to form the village with an estimated population of 351 people. Originally the village was called South Northfield, and over time the name became Glen View. Today it is known as Glenview. This is the name under which the village has continued to grow.
